Search Engine Positioning Tools

While we at Beanstalk Search Engine Positioning believe that there is no substitute for a human when it comes to search engine optimization there are some interesting tools out there that we have discovered in our travels. While we don't use many of them, we do understand that not everyone can afford to hire SEO experts and are happy to provide those of you who can't with links to these tools.

While we've given each of them a try, most of them we haven't tested in a real-world situation (basically, we may have tried them out but we haven't applied changes to our sites based on what a generic software script determines is the best choice with no knowledge of the specific industry, keyword competition, and other site-specific aspects). Some of these tools are genuinely interesting, other are just effective for time saving such as the couple tools we actually do use. They will be separated into "Tools We Use" and "Interesting Tools" below.

Should you know of any reason why one of the SEO tools listed below should not be on the list please contact us and let us know including the reason. We will contact them and assess their eligibility.

SEO Tools We Use

Beanstalk's Free SEO Tools
Beanstalk offers a variety of free SEO tools on our site that cover a wide array of functions from backlink anaysis to keyword research to keyword density analysis. You might as well try them out, the price is right. :)

PR Prowler
PR Prowler from TopNet Solutions searches the web based on your specific criteria providing results with a minimum PageRank that you determine. A very handy tool for your link-building efforts.

Total Optimizer Pro
When we first purchased PR Prowler (above) we thought we've found the ultimate link building tool. That was, until we found Total Optimizer Pro. Made by the same folks who put out PR Prowler, this tool rips apart and tells you everything there is to know about your competitor's backlinks, the anchor text used to link to them, the PageRank distribution of their incoming links and much more.

SEO Elite
This SEo is still in testing at Beanstalk however it shows great promise. We will be providing more information once we can confirm it's effectiveness in live tests.

Search Engine Placement - Advanced Web Ranking
Until recently we would have recommended WebPosition Gold (below) as the best tool to check the ranking of your website over multiple domains. Fortunately we were emailed by the folks at Advanced Web Ranking and were prompted to test their product (kindly, this was not a spam email). After testing we are happy to report that we will be adding this fantastic tool to our SEO arsenal. It provides a large number of adantages over WebPosition Gold including some fantastic customizable reports that are head-and-shoulders above those WP offers.

Link Assistant
When we were contacted by the folks at Link Assistant we hesitated to even try the software as we generally avoid automated systems for link building and stick to the traditional methods that give us 100% control. After taking a peek at the site however we figured it was at least worth trying out. The difference we found with this software over others was that it did give complete control over managing the links AND more importantly, it creates the directory easily and in HTML files so they're easily spidered and PageRank is assigned. Based on easy-of-use, customization, SEO factors and of course price (currently $79 though it will be going up to $100 shortly) it's the only one we'd recommend if you don't have the time or inclination to do it manually.

WebPosition Gold
While this software claims to give advice on how to optimize your website we have never used it for that and in fact have found it giving advice to change sites we're holding #1 rankings for. That said, it provides an easy way to check your rankings for a large number of keyword phrases over all the major engines with a simple click of the mouse. An enormous time saver even if you only have one website.
