We spend time each day researching and testing our tactics, visiting forums and reading newsletters from other search engine optimization firms to keep ourselves fully updated on what's going on in the SEO-world.

ClickTracks
ClickTracks is the single best log analyzer that we have found to date. This little tool allows webmasters, SEOs and business owners to view more about their website visitors than you can imagine. It will not only allow you to determine what keywords are bring people from which engines (most stats will do that) but it will go further to help you determine where these people are going on your site, what pages they are visiting and even what links they are clicking to get there and whether they purchased your produce/service or not.

Keyword Discovey
We started using this tool after we'd been using WordTracker (below) for a while. This tool definitely wins on a number of fronts from analysis to flexability. Of course, it's always good to have a couple tools to reference to make sure your data stands across multiple engines and databases.

WordTracker
While this tool won't help you get top rankings it will help you determine the best phrases to target. Very similar to Overture's Search Term Suggestion Tool (below) except that this tool differentiates between plural and singular searches, does not correct spelling (i.e. it gives the number of searches for misspellings rather than correcting them and giving a total for correct and misspelled words) and gives the results in predicted numbers of searches over all the engines per day rather than just one engine over a month.

The Overture Search Term Suggestion Tool
A decent tool for researching keyword phrases. It'll indicate which phrases had the highest numbers of searches on Overture the month before. The biggest weakness it has as far as applying it to the natural search engines is that Overture counts singular and plural the same and also corrects misspelling so the totals are all lumped together in this tool whereas on the natural engines they are considered differently.
