    Keyword Research Article

The latest article published by Beanstalk SEO has just been added to our archives.  The article is titled, “Keyword Research Basics for SEO” and is exactly that.  For the experienced there will be little to glean from the article bu it gives a good outline of how to use keyword tools (specifically Google’s) to help assess what your possible targets are.  A followup article will be coming out in the next few days on competition analysis to help our readers turn that keyword research data into a useful SEO strategy.  To read the article just click the link above or visit our SEO articles archive for this and other useful publications.

I’ll post here the second the new article is available and be sure to stay “tuned” – we’ve got some new writers who will be adding their voices to the Beanstalk blog in the next week with a  focus on bringing you more and up-to-date news and analysis.

    Tricking Yahoo!/Overture

Many people have likely noticed over the past while that the Overture keyword tools is extremely unreliable. Setting aside the numbers it provides (equal to or better than other options to be sure) one can rarely even connect to it.

Well we’ve found a quasi-successful workaround. For some reason (perhaps coincidence) it seems to work better in IE then Firefox. That’s not the workaround however. What we did find works more times than trying to connect directly to http://inventory.overture.com/ is to access it through Google’s cache of the page. Unfortunately this is far from reliable but appears to connect more times than a direct access attempt.

You can access the cache at http://209.85.173.104/search?q=cache:inventory.overture.com/. Note: it’s still not reliable – just better. :)

Note: Links removed as they no longer work.

    Keyword Research Article Published

Today I published my most recent article. This article is a bit different. It’s on keyword research and is part one of a ten part series. What makes this a bit different is that there will be various authors from various companies publishing in the areas that they know best. We’ll also be supplementing the article which will be published each Thursday with a special on Webmaster Radio where we’ll have a chance to speak with the tools manufacturers and experts in the area spot lighted that week.

Next week Ross Dunn of StepForth will be writing part two on competition analysis and of course, he’ll be a guest on the show along with some guest of his own.

You can read the first article on the Beanstalk site here. You can catch the accompanying radio show on WebmasterRadio.fm at 2PM PST on Thursday. If you miss it don’t fret, you can download the podcasts free of charge.

You can read the article on the beanstalk site here.

Beanstalk Launches A New Keyword Activity Tool

As promised, we’ve launched another tool. This one help you to determine which keywords you should be targeting by providing the estimated searches per day each phrase is expected to receive on the major search engines.

Now this may seem fairly typical, a lot like Overture in fact, however we’re supplementing that information with a breakdown by engine and tons of useful related links including links to the trend history for your phrase and links to major bookmarking, blogging, and shopping sites. Basically, we’re looking to provide a full picture of what the landscape is for your phrases so you can maximize your promotion. We hope we’ve succeeded.

You’ll find this new tool here (tool discontinued due to the lack of data from Overture) and if you missed our last post you’ll find all our free SEO tools here.
