Last year Beanstalk SEO balanced it's carbon emissions for the first time with TerraPass. This effort enabled us to easily and affordably help to offset the impact our energy-hungry business has on the environment. While we've grown and the cost to balance our emissions has gone up with this growth - we have just renewed our commitment to the environment and we urge you to do the same. Whether than means offsetting your carbon emissions or simply reducing your footprint through increasing your recycling efforts - it's an important step for you, your children and the world around you.

Our regular visitors and blog readers will remember that last year Beanstalk ran for the cure and was able to raise over $2,500 for breast cancer research. This year timing just didn't allow us to run for the cure but we were able to donate $250 to this important cause and helped Clix Marketing raise over $4,000 for this cause.

A HUGE thanks to Dave Szetela and Clix for taking the reigns on this one and reminding us all that there can be a cure and that every dollar counts.

Beanstalk SEO is committed to helping where we can and to this end we're committed to reducing our impact on the environment while helping those in need. To date this has involved looking for ways to reduce our carbon emissions and help charitable organization.

Today we've added another level of engagement and that's through the purchasing of carbon offsets. We can't help but use power - such is the nature of being a computer company but what we can do is seek ways to reduce what we produce and purchase offsets for what we need to consume to help balance our effect on the world around us. We are committed to continuing to do so and would like to see our peers, clients and blog readers do the same.

The latest press release from Beanstalk Search Engine Optimization, Inc. was released today announcing free SEO services for chairties and non-profit organizations. Here is the release:

November 6, 2008 -- Top SEO firm Beanstalk Search Engine Optimization, Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of their free SEO for charities initiative. Every month a site will be selected from a group of submissions and the charity or non-profit selected will receive free SEO services and/or consulting.

"We have to realize how privileged we are and remember to appreciate what we have and share what we can," said Beanstalk CEO Dave Davies. "Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in our lives and the stresses we all have but when we take a moment to think, I mean really think about how blessed we are, sometimes you can't help but be humbled. We are not a Fortune 500 company and we don't need to be to make a difference. We can do our part in our way and hopefully leave the world a better place than we found it."

In order to have your registered charity or non-profit organization considered you simply need to fill out their free charity SEO form. Once per month the Beanstalk owners and staff will choose from all applicants and select the winner.

The winner will be chosen based on a variety of factors. These include but are not limited to:

• Which charity is most deserving.
• Which charity can be helped the most.
• Which charity has shown a strong desire to provide visitors with a good and informative experience on their website.
• Which charity appeals to the Beanstalk team most.
  

On or around the 25th of each month a meeting will be held at Beanstalk and the winner will be informed and the services engaged. The services offered here will be those that both Beanstalk and the charity feel will provide the greatest possible benefit however they will be limited to a $1,500 value. Once every six months Beanstalk will be offering a $6,000+ package. Those who are selected for a $1,500 offering will be included in the considerations for the larger package.

All entries will be kept on file for six months so even if a charity isn't selected today -- they may still be selected down the road. If your charity isn't selected within six months of applying, all charities are invited to apply again though Beanstalk asks that applications be limited to two per year.

SEO's Raise Over $2,500 For Breast Cancer

Top SEO company Beanstalk Search Engine Optimization, Inc. along with other SEO's, clients and friends helped raise over $2,500 for breast cancer research. They did this through their participation in the CIBC Run For The Cure campaign.

Victoria, BC October 15, 2008 – Beanstalk Search Engine Optimization, Inc. CEO Dave Davies and President Mary Davies participated in the CIBC Run For The Cure event to raise money for breast cancer research. Through seeking donations from other SEO's as well as clients and friends their initial goal was $1,500.

“We were overwhelmed with the number of donations we received from our friends in the industry as well as from those who passed by our house, saw the sign in our yard inviting them to donate and who actually took the time to do so.” said Dave Davies of the fund raising.

The cause became especially important to Beanstalk when Mary Davies was informed that her cousin was fighting breast cancer. Their team in the run was Team Heather and all the staff of Beanstalk wish her every success in her fight against cancer.

Both Dave and Mary would like to extend a very special thanks to the following companies for their very generous donations:

The fine folks at Metro Hi Speed donated a very generous $500 to the cause. They also happen to provide the great Internet fax services that Beanstalk uses on a daily basis.

Alright, I've noticed that my friends in the SEO community are being overshadowed in their donations to our efforts to raise money for breast cancer research by our clients, friends and even (didn't see this one coming) to the people who walk by our house, read our sign and drop a donation into our mailbox. Alright people - that is kind of sad BUT it's a huge plus for our blog readers, clients and others. We've now crossed $1000 earned and that doesn't even include the $500 Beanstalk will be adding to the total.

And so I'm going to try something a little different - I'll try giving a little and in return, I'm hoping that breast cancer research will get a little something back.

Giving A Little:

I've been giving quite a bit of thought to what tid-bit of info to give so I'm going to leave that up to you to decide. We're the #1 ranking site for "seo services" so ask away. Let me know what you want to know with the sole exception of "How did you get to be #1?" which would require a book of info but we'll answer any one question. Send them in between now and the end of the week and the question with the highest number will get answered on our blog, even if it's "a secret". :)

Get A Little:

The goal of this trade will be to inspire our blog readers (AND SEO's) to give back in the way of a donation to breast cancer research. The donation is tax deductable, gets you a listing forever on our Run For The Cure page and some other cool incentives.

As many of you may be aware, Mary Davies (Beanstalk's President), Kathryn Robinson (One of our best link builders), and myself (Beanstalk's CEO) along with some friends and family have formed Beanstalk's Team Heather and on October 5th we'll be participating in the CIBC Run For The Cure - an annual fund raising effort to help fund breast cancer research.

We're doing MANY things to raise money for the effort as it's an issue that's close to our hearts since Mary's cousin Heather (and thus the name Team Heather) was diagnosed with breast cancer.

One of those efforts was putting up a page on our site with some cool incentives for people to sponsor our team and help raise money for this worthwhile cause (note: it's tax deductable as well).

Another effort, as we live right by the water in beautiful Victoria, BC, Canada was to put out a table with donation forms and information on our team and the charity. Those who made a donation or even just signed our guestbook with good wishes got to take a pink ribbon and tie it to our fence where it would stay until after the race.

Someone stole our table.

That's right, they took the guestbook and ribbons off (thanks at least for that) and they actually stole the table of people using the table to raise money for charity.

Now fortunately we have extras and once again this morning the table is out where it'll remain all day but seriously - who raises someone who steals tables that are there to raise money for charity? I wasn't sure whether to be ticked off or just laugh. I chose to laugh and rant a bit on the blog. I seem to be doing that lately. :)

So, my thought is that there's always some good with the bad. We had our misfortune last night - my hope is that this blog post will inspire our valued blog readers to visit our Breast Cancer Run page or our charity page and make a donation. And we're not just asking for a free handout. We're willing to give a little back. How much depends on the donation. Be sure to visit our Team Heather page for more info. You'll be glad you did.
