SMX Advanced

I've been waiting excitedly for SMX Advanced for the past few months and finally the date is almost upon us. For those of you not registered to attend, I believe there are still 5 or 10 spots left. This is easily one of the best shows for those experienced in SEO and Internet Marketing.

For those of you who won't be able to attend - be sure to watch our blog next week. We'll be posting often on the sessions. In fact, I'm there as press. Also, I'll be grabbing many great interviews for Webmaster Radio and will be doing a show summary on next week's episode of Webcology on WebmasterRadio.fm from 2 to 3 EST on Thursday.

If you will be there - be sure to stop me (or Daryl from Beanstalk who will also be there) and say hi. It's always great to meet our site and blog visitors. :)

Oh Vancouver ... Why Oh Why

Back at SES Chicago 2007 I had the great fortune of attending a Blackhawks vs Canucks hockey game with one Mr. David Dalka. It was a great game and given that I'm from Canada about 20 miles from Vancouver - it was made better by witnessing the Canucks walk all over Chicago (though admittedly, I didn't want to cheer too much in hostile territory :)

Well I got an email from David a couple weeks back basically taunting me with the crushing I was about to receive as they went head-to-head in the playoffs. Of course I had to respond back with my own challenge and taunt given that the Canucks had done so very well right before my eyes in front of a visitor audience. And alas - I was wrong and so here I publicly note that David, you were right and I was wrong. The Blackhawks are a better team than the Canucks (as a note - I don't really believe it - I just have to say this as he would have had to if the Canucks had won). :)

Anyways David, thank you for making the series more entertaining than it would have been had I not feared your taunts. Even though I now have to hate you until the Canucks show what a real Canadian hockey team can do I wish you every luck in your executive search marketing management consulting business and hope to sit next to you as the Canucks crush your team again in the future. ;)

New SEO Tool Launches

Many moons ago I raved about a tool called PR Prowler. A great tool in it's time for finding quality backlinks quickly and significantly reducing the time that offsite optimization takes and the benefits it delivers. We've continued to use this tool over the years however as time goes by you learn to want more-and-more from the tools you use.

Well - a big thanks to Shawn for listening to what we asked and launching a new version named Page Prowler that addresses all of our "can you add" requests. The new version digs deeper into the analysis side providing more detailed information about the links you're looking for to save you even more time and help you weed through all the possibilities quickly and easily.

I've already got my copy and we'll be adding it to our link building arsenal.

Once we've used it a while longer you can count on a full review but in the meantime you can check out the Page Prowler site for more details. Good luck and happy link hunting.

BOTW Discount Code

Best Of The Web (our personal favorite paid directory) is offering a 15% off discount on submissions to their directory for the month of May.

Since DMOZ has become all but useless, Best of the Web (the oldest running directory) has become the most valuable and through directory on the web. For the price of a listing (less than $300 for a lifetime listing) it's higher on our list than even the Yahoo! directory which is, of course, a solid directory as well though a bit overpriced for a lot of people's needs and budget.

To submit to DMOZ and get the discount you simply need to find the correct category and use the discount code MAYDAY.

You can view their directory and/or submit your site at http://www.botw.org/.
